Week Eight: 2010 Stash Bash Update

This week I concentrated on winter.

4 coats mended

A pile of mended coats. The fourth coat is black and under the brown one.

1 blanket for the dog bed

The last one I made has been totally stinkified and is now beside the washing machine awaiting cleansing. So I rounded up more fleece and made another so the dog wouldn't have to endure the cold floor.

2 scarves, 1 pair of mittens and 5 winter hats.

All of the wearable muslins from Butterick 5772.

Now how did you make the dog bed? I toyed with the idea but my dog will just chew the seams up eventually. Is that a double layer of fleece stuffed with something? I never thought about using scraps from other projects – is that what you meant by gathering all the fleece?

I just laid two pieces of fleece on top of one another and did a meandering topstitching wandering over the fabric to sew them together. The dog does tend to chew the edges. No stuffing. I have two small dogs and stuffing does keep them busy for about a half hour as they methodically rid their stuffed toys of innards. Then I am busy for about an hour cleaning up. What I meant by gathering the fleece was finding all of it in the remnant bin and throwing it on the bed to wonder what small project could be made from it. A rather random process. 🙂
